I started work on crayon gesture drawings, using the figure sculptures as the reference point. In order to facilitate a quicker and more spontaneous response to the figure sculptures, I drew on textured charcoal paper which is similar to the surface of the sanded Dura-Lar sheets. Eventually I’ll transition to small sheets of sanded Dura-Lar for the final drawing studies.
Lighting for the figure sculptures is very important, and I’ve kept it consistent in this project by using natural light that lights the sculptures from behind and slightly above. To get a general sense of the potential for each figure sculpture, I completed multiple views of the same figure sculpture on one page.
