Clara,

We were the winners of "Compulsion" at the Museum Council auction in 2005 at the MFA. We were so glad we did! The piece is so strong and thought-provoking. We ended up redecorating our entire living room around it! Best of luck and continued success.

beautiful drawings. good luck with exhibiting and maintaining momentum - that's crucial. go as far as you can with as much energy as you can muster. don't think of tomorrow and don't "settle." forge ahead. avant garde, my dear!

The drawings actually aren't mounted on the wall. I poked holes into the top of the drawings from which fishing line is tied so that the drawings hang from 2 nails on the wall. This post explains the process: http://claralieu.wordpress.com/2008/08/03/gallery-installation-test/

I love the figures on duralar. I am experimenting with duralar now and wonder if you can tell me how you mounted the drawings on the wall. Should I purchase a certain kind of pin?

Hi Clara - I've been teaching drawing in upstate NY at Cazenovia College, and I just did a search for "Seurat charcoals" because I'm taking my students to a bowling alley to do some gesture drawings and tonal sketches, and I saw your name come up! How have you been? I also want to mention, in case you haven't seen them yet, Fogg Archive in Cambridge has these actual drawings, and if you just make an appointment, all they need is a driver's license and you can hold the actual paper and examine it. It's amazing!

I am so thankful that I happened upon your site, probably a year ago.
I was looking for work that is inspiring. Your work definitely is. I find it refreshingly honest, insightful and well written. Your process is both intuitive and organized at the same time, and I love to watch it evolve.
Thank you for your generous spirit and articulate words.
I hope to get to one of your openings, someday, when I can get to the Boston area. I mentioned your excellent site in my blog and referenced it and a post on getting new ideas for your work.Twyla Tharp, in "The Creative Habit" has wonderful ideas along those lines and more, as well!

Hello Clara,
Thank you for arranging for Mike Mei's demonstration of calligraphy, and for writing about his work. I am one of Mr. Mei's students. It is a rare opportunity to learn from a great teacher, especially from one who is a master of the earlier forms of Chinese calligraphy (e.g., "seal script" and "clerical script") as well as the later generation styles. Your support for the Wellesley event helped to share Mr. Mei's knowledge with others.
