Life Drawing from the Figure

I drew from a model for the first time in several years. While I was excited to have the opportunity to work from the model, I certainly felt exremely “out of shape” the whole time. At the same time, the experience is completely different now that I’ve focused my work on images which do not require my working directly from life. My priorities and rationale for drawing from the model are significantly different than what they were when I was in school. I see this as an important exercise to maintain mostly as a means to keep my eye sharp and to keep thinking about drawing, even if its not directly related to my current work.

A figure drawing from 1999; probably the last time that I can remember doing life drawing.
