Ink Drawing: Grey Tones

The next time I’m in the studio I want to make a point of trying to enhance the Chinese ink drawings with grey tones. The first sketches I did with the Chinese ink were done with straight black ink which allowed me to understand the materials better and keep things relatively simple until I figured out whether I wanted to pursue those materials further. Now that I know I do, I want to be sure that I cover all of my tracks to be sure that I’m not missing out on anything. I was hesitant at first about the grey tones in the earlier India Ink sketches, but it’s possible that the rice paper and the Chinese ink might garner better results.
