Ink Drawing: Brush Exercises

Last night I realized that I need to do some brush exercises every day with the large brush.  I see it as the equivalent of doing stretches before starting vigorous exercise. When I worked on those two drawings yesterday I felt cold, as if I was so unfamiliar with the physical act of using the brush that I couldn’t loosen up enough. I’m going to establish a daily routine of simply making marks on large sheets of newsprint with the brushes. I did some pages last night for about 20 minutes, and even that seemed to make me feel looser and more willing to try out different things.
