Early this morning I saw an incredibly thick fog outside my window. Simply put, the fog created a visual effect where the landscape appeared to be layered in the same way I’m layering these crayon drawings. I was astounded at the visual similarities between the landscape and my drawings. At the same time, I was amazed by the sense of atmosphere and depth created by the fog.
What is especially interesting is the correlations between this scene and the drawings I’m making: the tonal range of the image in conjunction the varying degrees of articulation in terms of sharp/blurry edges seems especially notable.
