I lucked out today with cloudy, overcast weather which creates perfect, consistent lighting throughout the day. Natural light from a cloudy day is still quite powerful and is able to accentuate form with a soft subtlety. What I especially appreciate about natural light is that the mid-tones are much more prominent, as opposed to artificial light which is blunt and flat by comparison. The perfect weather situation allowed me to immediately make significant progress on the figures in this second drawing.
I’m getting into a good rhythm and pace with these drawings. Being able to work on them several times a week helps me maintain continuity in my thought process and drawing process. I’m becoming more efficient by getting to the point more quickly and spending less time questioning and evaluating.
