I spent the day working at the Davis Museum to install my three 10′ x 4′ lithographic crayon drawings for the upcoming fall exhibition “Calculated Risks: New Work by Faculty Artists.” This is the most ambitious installation I’ve worked on, due to the large scale of the drawings. I worked with Andrew Daubar, Museum Preparator and Elizabeth Wyckoff, Curator of Prints and Drawings and two museum installers all day on the installation.
The museum installers were amazing, they were incredibly precise and yet fast and efficient at the same time. It was wonderful and exciting to be standing by watching them work through all of the various details and parts of the installation process. We spent all morning and part of the afternoon hanging each drawing, layer by layer onto the wall with nails.
