A Break

I decided yesterday that I’m going to take a break from my fine arts work for a little while. This month I’ll be busy working on a catalog for my two upcoming solo exhibitions as well as publicity materials to accompany the shows. I feel like I’m not going to be mentally ready to move on to a new project until everything for the two shows is complete.  I had this realization yesterday; I was sitting in my office after class thinking about what to work on, and the thought of getting started on another fine arts project was really unappealing.

I think the next step is going to be 50 figure drawings, but just thinking about it makes me tired, so it’s a signal that it’s time for a break.  I was feeling a little guilty yesterday that I was going to take a break, as I try to make as much as I can with the precious studio time that I have available each week for my fine arts work, but I realized fairly quickly that my mind just isn’t ready to move onto something new just yet.

I’m someone who is most happy when I’m busy, so I’m going to concentrate on my plush dolls and children’s book series, “Dollies”.  I just recently set up an etsy shop that will be opening in two weeks, where you’ll be able to buy my plush dolls. You can visit the various sites for the series at the links below:
