I’ve been playing around in Photoshop this week, experimenting with different formats and possibilities for how to present these sculptures with photography and digital media. One strategy that I like to use when I’m conceptualizing the work is to think about the worst ideas possible and realize them in the form of sketches. It’s a way that I can get the bad ideas out of my system so that I can move onto the better stuff. Sometimes knowing and figuring out what you don’t want to do helps steer you in the right direction. You have to have bad ideas if you want to have good ones. Below is taking the idea of a mask as literally as possible, an approach I definitely wanted to eliminate.
