Distractions

I have some major distractions going on this week, and I’m finding it almost impossible to focus on anything.  Rather than starting the modeling process on a new set of faces, I’m working on making more solid  beeswax casts for my Etsy shop.  Until the distractions die down, I’m going to focus just on casting because it’s something I need to do anyway, and because it’s fairly mindless and keeps me busy.

I had lunch with Tony Janello this past weekend, and I was talking to him about how I was feeling like the creative process never got easier, that in fact, it just seems to get harder and harder the older I get. He said that he thought that it wasn’t that the creative process gets more difficult, rather that as you get older the distractions get larger and more difficult to handle.  This could not be more true in my experience.

  1. I think the creative process is difficult because everything has already been tried and done in art. Also, it’s harder for visual art if you aren’t making use of colors. I wish there were more colors than just 6 – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.
